The Little Lady – Blessing My Child

Posted on July 26th, 2013

This is a tune I wrote for my first child, a beautiful little lady. The original idea was recorded on a CD called “The Return Home” by a band I played in called Mithril. Eventually I wrote words for the melody as a prayer for my daughter. The second recording is from a church service.

Performed by Mithril

Performed by Mark and Bridget Moses

Lyrics:
The Little Lady walked right by and we caught each other’s eye.
She reached out her hand and said, “Please hold me tight.”
One day I hope and pray, Little Lady you can do the same,
Hold your little love in your hands every day, every day.

Little child I hear you laughing as the sun continues to shine.
Skip dance sing, spin around, hold those little arms up to the sky.
Little Lady keep on running every day God gives you life.
Hold on to freedom in your heart every day, every day.

We both know that there will come a day when you will go your own way.
Oh child hear my heart, hold on to love hold on to faith,
Keep reaching out those arms, keep dancing in the sun.
It’s His love that will keep you alive every day.

Little Lady, I watch you shine as each day passes by,
May your life be filled with peace and joy as you continue to fly.
Oh child you are God’s gift to me and I pray that you will always see,
God’s love is all around you every day, every day.

We both know that there will come a day when you will go your own way.
Oh child hear my heart, hold on to love hold on to faith.
Keep reaching out those arms, keep dancing in the sun.
It’s His love that will keep you alive every day.

I also orchestrated the tune for string orchestra and had the wonderful opportunity to perform it with the Mobile Symphony. Even more wonderful, my daughter was able to take the stage and dance with me!
