I Once Told You

Posted on May 15th, 2015

For Micah and Nick….and all of the other children who know more than most of us about pushing through.

I once told you that I knew, how you felt while wading through.
But now I hear the words, you don’t want me to be there with you.
I only want to help you why can’t you see my words are truth,
Only if you knew.

Now here I sit in your place, years removed from the other day.
From here I see the words I thought were healing only hindered you.
Eliphaz and friends debating, navigating shallow pools of truth,
Only if they knew.

Heartfelt words can be heard over and over again.
Painful burns, blood returns and I don’t know why I,

Walk out these days like I do, heart wide open and new.
From here I see the words I thought were healing only hindered you.
Eliphaz and friends still waiting, navigating shallow pools of truth,
Only if they knew, only if they knew.
